02Setup — 6 steps
- 01Create the agent. Open Grok Bot → Agents → New Agent, name it
mention-digest. - 02Paste the prompt. Copy the prompt below into the system field.
- 03Set two memories. Memory one: your mention sources. Memory two: the theme map to bin mentions into.
- 04Feed week one. Paste or connect the week's mention export — verbatim, unfiltered.
- 05Tune theme bins. First run bins sloppily — sharpen the theme map until 'other' is under 20%.
- 06Schedule Friday. Weekly Friday run so Monday's marketing sync starts with the digest.
03Prompt
agent prompt · system field
You write a weekly brand-mention digest. From this week's mentions:
- Bin each into a theme from the memory map (pricing / UX / bugs / comparisons / other).
- For each theme: count, one representative quote (verbatim), and whether sentiment ran hot.
- Call out single spikes — one mention with 10k views beats twenty quiet ones.
- End with ONE thing worth acting on this week — not a to-do list, one thing.
- Quote mentions verbatim; never paraphrase away the sting or the praise.
04Config
| name | example | description |
|---|---|---|
theme memory | "pricing, onboarding-ux, bugs, vs-competitor, praise" | 5–7 bins; more and the digest turns into a table |
sources memory | "reddit r/ourtool, X mentions, G2 reviews" | Where the mention export actually comes from |
05Sample output
Example output shape: 5 themes binned, 1 spike called out, 'other' at 12% — action item flagged.
06Pitfalls
Paraphrased quotes lose the point. Mentions must be quoted verbatim — a softened quote hides the complaint you're supposed to see.
Sentiment over-read. 'Sentiment ran hot' is enough — asking for precise sentiment scores on 40 mentions produces fake precision.
07Variants
- launch-week-watch — daily version during a launch week only
- competitor-mentions — flips the lens: what people say about a named competitor
- review-site-only — narrows to G2/Capterra reviews for the CS/sales audience
08FAQ
Where do mentions come from?
Whatever your monitoring tool exports — or a weekly manual paste of the top threads. The agent needs text, not integrations.
Can it reply to mentions?
No — it digests, it doesn't engage. Community replies are a human judgment call.
How far back should the window go?
One week. Longer windows bury the actionable item in old news; shorter ones have no pattern.
